John Maynard Keynes was a British economist who is considered one of the most influential of the 20th century.

During the Great Depression, Keynes' work The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money claimed that changes in government income (taxes) and spending are the most effective way manage economic policy.

Keynesian economists believe government intervention can stabilise economies.
